Custom site and CMS in .NET
I’ve been a freelance nature and conservation photographer since 2000 and was a founding director of The Wild Media Foundation, the Social Enterprise behind projects such as Tooth & Claw, Highland Tiger, 2020VISION and the Scottish Nature Photography Festival. In 2015 I founded SCOTLAND:The Big Picture, a company dedicated to producing compelling visual media that promotes the benefits of a wilder Scotland.

A customised WordPress site for Document Scotland.
Three prominent Scottish photographers are today launching Document Scotland, a new initiative which aims to promote, encourage and support documentary photography in their homeland.
Jeremy Sutton-Hibbert, Colin McPherson and Stephen McLaren are Scots-born photographers with a passion for documentary photography. Each has been working internationally for the last decade. Now they are turning their lenses on Scotland to document the social, cultural and economic issues facing the country today.
Neil’s new site is WordPress-based, using custom fields and categories to organise page-specific content, eg photo-tours.
Award-winning wildlife photographer, based in Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands, portfolio galleries and wildlife/landscape photo-tours.
2020VISION has been a wonderful project to be involved with, over the lifecycle from its launch in 2010, to 2014. The site now forms an archive of the project. I designed a custom CMS to manage the data from 20 photographers’ assignments, galleries, project details, geolocation data, videos… and a wordpress blog for the photographers’ diaries..
Britain’s most ambitious conservation visual media initiative … ever!
20 photographers | 20 assignments | 1 vision … to show the link between healthy ecosystems and healthy people. In other words…
A wilder Britain is good for us!
Its always a delight working with Colin – he’s a talented photographer with a great eye.
The Forman Collection represents the first permanent display of photographs from Colin McPherson’s acclaimed project entitled Catching the Tide, documenting the Salmon netters around the Scottish coast.
This commission involved designing a custom CMS to manage the site as well as graphical work.
In an age dominated by visual media, creative imagery is a powerful communication tool that can promote a wider understanding and appreciation of the natural world – this is what defines the Wild Media Foundation.
Working alongside other disciplines, our job is quite simply to bring nature’s stories closer to people’s lives. If not winning hearts and minds, then at least opening them.
I worked with Wild Wonders of Europe over the main 3 years of the project, designing and managing multiple blogs, searchable galleries, featured interviews, videos, an annual international phtographic competition with public voting system – and more! I built a complete CMS for managing the site, and managed the database.
The site was developed over several incarnations. The current site is an archive and still uses aspects of my designs, although I left the project as its active lifecycle came to an end.
The world’s largest ever nature photography project: 60 photographers, more than 100 missions across 45 countries of Europe, to bring us images of wild nature in Europe.
The Tooth&Claw project ran for a few years until 2010, to raise awareness about Britain’s wild predators and the way we feel about them. A major part of the site was the interactive survey, the results of which eventually formed the Tooth&Claw book.
The site was taken down at the end of the project.
I designed a full CMS for Stewart to upload his latest wedding & portrait sessions. The site features an online ordering system for clients to purchase their prints.
Award-winning Scottish photographer, Stewart Grant.
I have tremendously enjoyed working with Scottish based nature photographer and photo-journalist Peter Cairns. Many of the images and ideas you will find on the site revolve around the wildlife and wild places of northern Scotland. Coverage extends further afield to Scandinavia, Europe and the USA and features the political and environmental issues that accompany modern-day wildlife management worldwide.
The site has an online booking system together with custom back-office management systems.
The site also offers Northshots photo-tours, wildlife photographic adventures, hide rental, and an online store for books, prints, and photo-tours.
I’ve worked with Mark over many years on different projects – this is his own site, featuring uimage galleries and a custom CMS.
A site that aims to communicate the awe, beauty and wonder of the natural world through visually arresting imagery, specialising in the wildlife, nature and landscapes of Scotland, Northern Europe and North America.
